Digitising, explained

A logo isn’t stitches yet.

An embroidery machine can’t read a JPG or a PDF. Your logo has to be redrawn as a stitch file: every shape becomes rows of thread, each with a direction, a density and an order for the needle to follow. That step is called digitising, and it’s why the same logo can look crisp on one shirt and messy on another.

We set your logo up for the size it will be stitched at. Fine lines and small text are adjusted so they read clearly in thread, colours are matched to the closest thread, and you see the proof on your phone before a single garment is stitched.

Made to be worn.

Holds up to the wash.

The logo is thread sewn into the fabric, so there is nothing to crack or peel. It suits uniforms that go through the wash every week.

Looks established.

A stitched logo on a polo or cap reads as a business that has been around. Customers notice it before you say a word.

Same logo, every reorder.

Once your logo is set up we keep the file, so new starters get the same logo in the same spot.

How much does embroidery cost in Bendigo?

It depends on the garment, how many you need and how many spots you want stitched. Embroidery is priced per logo, per garment, so the price per garment comes down as the quantity goes up. Send us your logo and a head count, and your quote shows the full price before you say yes.

What is digitising, and do I pay for it?

Digitising turns your logo into a stitch file the embroidery machine can follow: the direction, density and order of every stitch. It’s included for most logos. Lettering in an unusual font can need extra set-up, and if yours does, it’s listed on your quote before you approve anything.

What should I send you?

Your logo as a vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) is best, and a large PNG works too. Tell us the garment, colour, sizes and where the logo goes, for example left chest or cap front. If all you have is an old shirt with the logo on it, bring it in and we’ll talk you through the options.

Is there a minimum order?

There’s no minimum quantity, so you can order one polo or a hundred. A minimum order value does apply, which means a single garment is priced to cover the set-up. The set-up is shared across the order, so the price per garment drops as the quantity goes up.

Embroidery or printing: which should I choose?

Embroidery suits polos, work shirts, caps, jackets and aprons, and logos with solid colours. Printing suits tees, big designs on the back, photos, gradients and very fine detail. Plenty of uniforms use both: a stitched logo on the chest and a printed design on the back. See t-shirt printing in Bendigo.

Can you embroider garments we already own?

Yes, with a handling charge per garment. Drop them in to 2/176 Lyttleton Terrace with your logo and where it goes, and we’ll check the fabric suits embroidery before we start. Very thin or stretchy fabrics don’t always stitch well, so ask us first if you’re unsure.

How do I look after embroidered shirts?

Wash cold and inside out, and skip the bleach. Don’t iron straight over the stitching: iron from the back or put a cloth over it. Embroidery has nothing to crack or peel, so cared for like this it lasts as long as the garment.

Can you match the uniform we already have?

Yes. Bring one in, or tell us the brand and style code, and we’ll match the garment, the thread colours and the logo position. Once your logo is set up we keep the file, so the next order matches too.
