The problem

Cheap cards get binned.

The flimsy one goes in the bin at the next set of lights. The good one goes in the wallet and comes back out six weeks later, when they finally need the job done. Same information, a few dollars apart, completely different outcome.

The close, in your pocket.

Established in two seconds.

A good card answers the question about whether you’re a real business before anyone asks it.

Kept, not lost.

Weight and finish are the reason a card survives a wallet clean-out.

Sets the price before you do.

A menu or a rate card tells people what bracket you’re in, and they arrive expecting it.

The usual suspects.

A proof, not a gamble.

Bleed, resolution, fonts, how the black is built. All looked at before it goes to press, and if something’s going to trim badly or come out soft, you get a preview and the options while it’s still a conversation.

Upload to a portal and it prints exactly as supplied, problems included.

Card blanche.

No artwork yet? We’ll design the card and lay the rest out to match, then hold the files so next time it’s a reprint. Design is charged at an hourly rate.

Trades

A flyer into the 500 houses either side of a job you just finished, while the van’s still on the street.

Cafés and venues

A menu that sells the high-margin item, and a card with the booking link on the back.

Retail

A postcard to past customers before the season turns. Beats discounting to strangers.

Professional services

A brochure that answers the six questions you get asked in every first meeting.

New businesses

Cards and a one-page flyer. The cheapest credible start there is.

Events and expos

A leave-behind that still makes sense a week later, when the badge is in the bin.

Handed over. Followed up.

The card does its job in the moment. This is the part that works on the ones who didn’t call straight away.

Still stuck? Call the studio on (03) 5441 7900, or come in and ask.

What file do you need?

A press-ready PDF with bleed and outlined fonts is best. If that sounds unfamiliar, send what you have, whether it’s a PDF, an image or a design file, and we’ll check it. We’ll tell you if something won’t hold up in print, like a low resolution logo or text too close to the edge, and quote to fix it if needed. Nothing prints until you approve the proof.

Which stock should I pick?

350gsm suits most business cards and feels solid in the hand. Choose 400gsm soft-touch when the card is doing the selling and you want it to feel special. For flyers and brochures, the right stock depends on how they’ll be used. Come in to 2/176 Lyttleton Terrace and feel the options if you want to be sure, or call us and we’ll talk you through them.

Do you check my file before printing?

Every time. We look over the size, bleed, resolution and anything that might print differently to how it looks on screen. If something needs your call, we send a preview and explain the options in plain language. Nothing goes to print until you’ve approved the proof, so you always see exactly what you’re getting first.

How long does it take?

It depends on the product, the quantity and how quickly the proof is approved. Products on our website show an estimated ready date before you order, and quoted jobs get an estimated ready date with the quote. If you’re working to a deadline, like an event or a mail-out, tell us before you accept the quote so we can check it and plan around it.

Will the colour match my signs and shirts?

Close, but not identical. Paper, vinyl and fabric all take ink differently, so the same colour can look slightly different on each. We build each file to get as near as that process allows, and if you have brand colour codes, send them so we work from the right values. If a colour is likely to shift noticeably, we’ll tell you before it prints.

Can you design it for me?

Yes. Design is charged at an hourly rate, and you can start with as little as your logo and a rough idea of what you want to say. We lay it out, send you a proof and make changes until it’s right. The finished files stay here, so reprints and updates are quick to set up. On a Marketing Plan, your included design hours can cover it.
