How Many Shirts Should I Order for My Team?
Too few and you're reordering in a month. Too many and you've got dead stock in sizes nobody wears. Here's the simple formula for team apparel orders.
Too few and you're reordering in a month. Too many and you've got dead stock in sizes nobody wears. Here's the simple formula for team apparel orders.
The Baseline: 3 to 5 Per Person
If your team wears branded shirts every workday, they need enough to rotate through a week. Three is the bare minimum (wash two, wear one). Five is comfortable and accounts for laundry delays. Four is the sweet spot for most teams.
For trades and physical work, lean towards five. Shirts get dirty faster and take more punishment. For office or retail wear, three to four is usually enough.
Add Spares for Growth and Replacement
Order 2 to 3 extra shirts in common sizes (M, L, XL typically). These cover new starters without requiring a separate order, and they replace damaged shirts immediately. Nothing looks worse than a team where one person is wearing a faded, cracked print from two years ago while everyone else looks fresh.
Collect Sizes Properly
Don't guess sizes. Don't ask people to self-report without seeing a size chart. Get the actual size chart from your printer for the specific blank being used - sizing varies between brands and styles. Send the chart to your team and have them pick their size based on measurements, not what they usually buy.
Common mistakes: people ordering their usual "medium" when the blank runs small, or ordering too large because they're used to relaxed-fit garments. The five minutes it takes to check the size chart saves the hassle of returns and reprints.
How to Handle Different Roles
If your team has different roles that benefit from different garments - say, polos for client-facing staff and tees for warehouse - order them as separate items but keep the branding consistent. Same logo, same colours, same placement. The garment type can vary while the brand stays unified.
The Order Summary
Team of 5 wearing shirts daily: 20 to 25 shirts plus 3 spares. Team of 10: 40 to 50 shirts plus 5 spares. Scale linearly. Budget for a full replacement order every 12 to 18 months for workwear, longer for office wear.
Send us your team size and we'll recommend the right quantity, blank, and print method.
