Corflute Signs: The Budget Signage That Actually Works

Corflute is the workhorse of temporary and semi-permanent signage. Cheap, lightweight, and surprisingly versatile. Here's when to use it and when to step up to something more permanent.

What Is Corflute?

Corflute is corrugated polypropylene sheet - essentially a plastic version of corrugated cardboard. It comes in 3mm and 5mm thicknesses, can be printed on one or both sides, and cuts to any size. It's lightweight enough to cable-tie to a fence and rigid enough to stand in a wire stake on a lawn.

What It's Good For

Real estate signs. The industry standard. Lightweight, cheap to replace per listing, and works with standard wire stakes.

Event and directional signage. Parking arrows, entry markers, sponsor boards, stall labels. Cheap enough to treat as disposable after the event, durable enough to reuse for annual events if stored flat.

Construction and trade site signs. Job site identification, safety notices, and contact details. Leave one at every job - it's cheap advertising that costs you nothing ongoing.

Temporary retail promotions. Sale signs, product displays, point-of-sale stands. Easy to swap out when the promotion ends.

Political and campaign signage. Lawn signs, fence-mounted boards, and roadside displays for election campaigns and community initiatives.

What It's Not Good For

Permanent outdoor signage. UV will fade the print over 6 to 12 months. Wind will flex and eventually crack the board. If you need signage that lasts years, choose aluminium composite (ACM) or printed vinyl on a rigid substrate.

High-wind locations. Corflute is light and flat, which means it catches wind. Unsecured boards blow away. Secure them properly with cable ties, screws, or stakes.

3mm vs 5mm

3mm is cheaper and lighter. Fine for indoor use and small outdoor signs where rigidity isn't critical. 5mm is stiffer, more durable, and better for anything that lives outdoors or stands unsupported. For most applications, 5mm is the better investment.

Cost

Corflute signs are priced by size. Small boards (600mm x 450mm) start from around $25 to $35 each. Standard real estate size (900mm x 600mm) runs $35 to $55. Larger boards (1200mm x 900mm) run $50 to $80. Quantity discounts apply. Single-sided or double-sided print available.
