What is corflute?
Corflute is corrugated polypropylene sheet, which is essentially a plastic version of corrugated cardboard. It comes in 3mm and 5mm thicknesses, can be printed on one side or both, and cuts to any size. It is light enough to cable-tie to a fence and rigid enough to stand in a wire stake on a lawn.
That mix of light weight and stiffness is why it turns up everywhere: out the front of houses for sale, on building site fences, at the gate of the local show and on nature strips at election time.
What are corflute signs good for?

Event and directional signage. Parking arrows, entry markers, sponsor boards and stall labels. Affordable enough to treat as disposable after the event, and durable enough to reuse for annual events if you store them flat.
Construction and trade site signs. Job site identification, safety notices and contact details. Leave one at every job and it keeps advertising for you without any ongoing cost.
Temporary retail promotions. Sale signs, product displays and point-of-sale stands that are easy to swap out when the promotion ends.

Before you order: if your signs will go into the ground on wire stakes, the flutes need to run vertically so the stake legs slide in. Mention it when you order, especially for landscape-shaped boards.
When should you choose something other than corflute?
Permanent outdoor signage. Sun will fade the print over months rather than years, and wind will flex the board and eventually crack it. If you need a sign that lasts years, choose aluminium composite (ACM) signs or printed vinyl on a rigid backing.
High-wind locations. Corflute is light and flat, which means it catches wind. Unsecured boards blow away, so fix them properly with cable ties, screws or stakes. On an exposed fence line, use more fixing points than you think you need.
A simple way to decide: if the sign is about a moment (a sale, an event, a listing, a campaign, a job), corflute is right. If the sign is about the business itself and should still look good in a few years, go rigid and permanent.
3mm vs 5mm corflute: which thickness?
3mm is lighter and costs less. It is fine for indoor use and small outdoor signs where rigidity isn't critical, like a sale sign in a window or a stall label on a table.
5mm is stiffer, more durable, and better for anything that lives outdoors or stands on its own. For most jobs, 5mm corflute signs are the better investment, because a board that stays flat in the wind still looks professional on day thirty.
What drives the cost of corflute signs?
Corflute is priced mainly by size, then by quantity. These are the things that move the number:
Size. Common sizes run from small A-sized boards up to large site signs. Bigger boards use more material.
Thickness. 5mm costs a little more than 3mm, and lasts better outdoors.
